Our Vision
Organic Vineyard Management
Our team consists of seasoned viticulturists with years of hands-on experience managing vineyards of all sizes. We understand the nuances of grape growing, from soil health to pest control, and tailor our strategies to your vineyard’s unique needs.

Gary Ford- Viticulturist/Owner
Bought up in North Otago on his parent’s Nursery Gary has always been involved in horticulture. His interest in vineyards was sparked when they were asked to graft some grapevines for vineyards in the Waitaki Basin and Central Otago.

Gary completed a Bachelor of Horticultural Commerce at Lincoln University and then went back in 2005 and gained a Graduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology.
​
Working for Vinewise Viticulture since 2005, and owner since 2023 Gary enjoys developing blocks, taking them from a rocky, low fertility existence to a flourishing vineyard. Water and a good mixed sward have brought soil life back to all these sites.

He loves the challenge of producing top quality grapes in a climate, that although is changing, still keeps us on the edge.
Outside of work Gary enjoys skiing, hunting, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
Montse Mondaca- Viticulturist/Operations Manager
Bought up in Chile, Montse came to New Zealand in 2009 on a working holiday. She loved it so much she decided to stay.
Since 2010 Montse has been working in the wine industry, initially in the winemaking area before moving to viticulture management from 2018.

Montse describes herself as a bit of a nerd when it comes to learning. She began her academic journey in Chile, completing a Degree in Agricultural Science. After becoming a permanent resident of New Zealand, she completed a Graduate Diploma in Viticulture & Oenology at Lincoln University. Wanting to deepen her knowledge even further, she later did a Master in Wine and Viticulture at Lincoln University.

Outside of work, she enjoys playing squash, doing yoga, or getting outdoors for a hike or a camping trip. Settling in with a good book and a good glass of wine is another favourite pass time. If the weather is nice, you’ll probably find her by the lake or enjoying a proper “asado.”
